New Here?

Welcome to St. Philip Presbyterian Church website! As followers of Jesus Christ, we seek to be an inclusive, grace-filled community engaging the world with open minds, willing hands, and generous hearts.  While worship is the foundation of the community of St. Philip, our common life is nurtured in many ways. Through classes, choirs, fellowship, mission, and service, St. Philip offers regular occasions for relationships to be formed and deepened.

Additional FAQs

What time is your Sunday Worship Service?

Worship with us at 11 am every Sunday in person or via live-stream.

What is worship like?

Worship at St. Philip seeks to embody the vision set forth in the Directory for Worship of the Presbyterian Church (USA):

Christian worship joyfully ascribes all praise and honor, glory and power to the triune God. In worship the people of God acknowledge God present in the world and in their lives. As they respond to God’s claim and redemptive action in Jesus Christ, believers are transformed and renewed. In worship the faithful offer themselves to God and are equipped for God’s service in the world.

Services follow the classic order for worship in which we offer our praises and confessions, remember God’s forgiveness and love, respond with thanksgiving and hope. Then we are sent into God’s world with renewed commitments to follow in the way of Jesus Christ.

Additional midweek services enrich the seasons of Advent and Lent.

What is music like at St. Philips?

Music shapes our worship. Soloists and small ensembles frequently lead the services, while the St. Philip Choir sings weekly. Our bell ensemble, children’s choir, and ukulele ensemble also participate regularly. In all services, the majestic Fritts organ lifts our hearts and accompanies our songs.

What about my children?

When children participate in and lead worship they feel they are a special and beloved part of their faith community and they begin to develop their own sense of what it means to be a child of God.

Opportunities abound for children and youth to take active roles in the life of worship at St. Philip as acolytes, liturgists and choir members. Please ask a pastor about these opportunities!

Sunday Worship and Children’s Chapel

All children are invited to worship  with their families. Worship bags are available in the Narthex with a variety of materials to enhance children’s participation in worship. During the service,  children are invited to a conversation with the pastors.

On the 2nd and 4th Sundays, children, ages 4-1st Grade, are invited to a special time of worship in the Children's Chapel during the 11 a.m. service.

Infants & children through 4 years

Infants & children through 4 years are invited to our Nursery, well-staffed by professional childcare providers. Please find our Nursery in Room 315, labeled "Sunday Infant Room." The door is accessible from both the hallway off from the gathering area and the Education Building along the Sunday School Classroom hallway on the first floor. An usher or a greeter will be happy to direct you there. Nursery and Preschool is available from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on Sundays.

How do I join the church?

If you are interested in joining St. Philip Presbyterian Church by profession of faith, by reaffirming your faith, or by transferring your membership, please speak with one of the ministers on Sunday or call the church office during the week.  The Session meets the third Sunday of each month after the 11 am worship service in Rm 100 (near the gathering area) for the purpose of receiving new members

Who and what are Presbyterians?

From the PCUSA website:

For over four centuries, Presbyterians have been responding to the call of Jesus Christ, taking the gospel into the world and bearing witness to Christ’s saving love to the ends of the earth. Today the Holy Spirit is still on the move, calling us to share in what God is doing in the world.

Shaped by its Reformed theology, history, and representational form of leadership, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) faithfully works to serve Christ in the world through new and existing communities of faith, hope, love, and witness.

Who is your minister/pastor?

St. Philip is blessed with three pastors. John Wurster is our lead pastor. Keaton King and Omar Rouchon both serve as associate pastors. You can read more about them on our Staff page.

How do I get involved? What activities beyond worship are there for fellowship?

Our Fellowship Committee plans a variety of all-church activities through the year, including events like barbecues and chili cook-offs and ball games.  The St. Philip retreat to Mo-Ranch each June is a significant event in the ongoing life of our congregation and a time when we all get to know one another better.  Members and non-members are also welcome to participate and contribute through the life of the church by being involved in one of the church committees and engaging in our many mission projects.

What visual and auditory aids are available during worship?

A Hearing Loop is installed within our Sanctuary. If you have a hearing aid equipped with a telecoil, please activate your “T switch” to hear the worship service most clearly. If you need assistance with hearing the service clearly and do not have a t-coil equipped hearing aid, please ask an usher for wireless headphones.
